Giving

Many churches are participating in the Indigenous Impact offering as a local body, so please check to see if your church is taking part.

Pray and ask God to show you the needs of the Aboriginal community in your area. Ask God to show you how your offering will have an impact.

If there is an Aboriginal church or organization that is intentionally reaching out to the Aboriginal community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, find out what their specific needs are and partner with them to impact the Aboriginal people for the Lord.

Statistics Canada, 2006 Census

  • A total of 1,172,790 persons identified themselves as First Nations, Metis or Inuit.
  • Aboriginal people account for 3.8% of the nation's total population.
  • 623,470 Aboriginal people are living in urban centres, or 54% of the national Aboriginal population.
  • The median age for the national Aboriginal population (27 years) is 13 years younger than that of the non-Aboriginal population.
  • About a third of the Aboriginal population was made up of children under age 15.
  • Elders represented only 5% of the Aboriginal population.
  • Aboriginal people account for 4.5% of BC's provincial population and 24.5% of Yukon's.
  • Vancouver is home to 40,310 Aboriginal people, or 2% of its population.
